Boston College’s Andre Williams Wins 2013 Doak Walker Award

Boston College’s Andre Williams won the 2013 Doak Walker Award on Thursday night, which is given annually to college football’s top running back.

Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey and Washington’s Bishop Sankey were the other two finalists.

Williams, who officially graduated on Thursday, is the first player from Boston College to win this award, and he’s also the first to win it from an ACC school.

The senior running back led all FBS players with 2,102 rushing yards, and also scored 17 rushing touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry. He averaged 188 rush yards per game and helped lead Boston College to its first bowl game since 2010.

Williams could earn even more honors before the end of the weekend. He’s one of the six finalists for the 2013 Heisman Trophy, which will be awarded on Saturday in New Yorkf City.
