David WarsofskyNick Johnson, Zach Trotman and David Warsofsky are heading back to Providence, one day after the three young guns were called up to help an injury-plagued Boston Bruins squad.

With defenseman Dennis Seidenberg out for the season after tearing his ACL and MCL in Friday’s game against the Ottawa Senators and forward Carl Soderberg also sidelined with an injury, Warsofsky and Johnson were recalled from the AHL on an emergency basis for Saturday night’s meeting with the Sens. Just before puck drop, it was announced that Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara would not be in the lineup, prompting Trotman’s late call-up.

Warsofsky notched his first career NHL goal against the Senators, in his fourth appearance with the Bruins. Trotman made his NHL debut Saturday, and the young defenseman registered three shots on the night. Johnson has appeared in eight games with Boston and recorded seven shots on goal.

While the B’s blue line is still hurting, the flurry of roster moves at least implies that Chara’s undisclosed injury is nothing serious, and the captain should be back on the ice Tuesday night when the Bruins take on the New York Islanders at TD Garden.
