David Ortiz might just be baseball’s biggest celebrity.
Ortiz has long been one of MLB’s best sluggers, but his popularity continues to rise despite the Red Sox designated hitter entering his late-30s. With a clutch bat and an infectious personality, Ortiz is the type of athlete who attracts attention, even from celebrities outside of the sports realm.
It was no surprise that celebrities showed up in droves for Ortiz’s recent golf tournament in his native Dominican Republic. One of the guests was actor/comedian Chris Tucker, who is known mostly for his roles in the Friday movies and Rush Hour movies.
Tucker and Ortiz did more than just chitchat, too. The duo decided to hit the skies and fly around the D.R., evidenced by a tweet sent out by Tucker on Monday. Tucker served as the pilot while Ortiz rode shotgun.
Check out the pair’s D.R. flight in Tucker’s tweet below. (By the way, we’ll let Tucker’s spelling of “Big Papi” slide.)
