Andrew Ference joined the Bruins during the 2006-07 season, and he immediately became an important part of the team’s blue line and leadership group.
The veteran blueliner played a key role in the team’s run to a Stanley Cup championship in 2010-11, and in addition to his quality on-ice performance, Ference also made a significant impact in the community and adopted Boston as a second home.
Ference left the Bruins after last season and went back to his hometown to sign with the Edmonton Oilers as a free agent. The 34-year-old defenseman will play against his former teammates for the first time since leaving Boston when the Bruins and Oilers meet at Rexall Place on Thursday night.
Check out the video above to hear what Ference and Bruins head coach Claude Julien had to say about Thursday’s game.
