Dennis Seidenberg, Steven StamkosDennis Seidenberg is done for the season.

The Bruins defenseman didn’t travel with the team to Ottawa after suffering a lower-body injury on Friday night and now some light has been shed on exactly what kind of injury it was. Seidenberg suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee late in the third period after getting tangled up with Cory Conacher behind the Boston net.

The expected recovery time for the injury is six to eight months, the team announced.

In light of that fact, Boston also announced it has recalled defenseman Zach Trotman from Providence on an emergency basis. Trotman will be available to play Saturday night’s game against the Senators. Trotman will be getting his first taste of the NHL, having appeared in 70 AHL games since joining the P-Bruins in the 2011-12 season, amassing four goals and 22 assists.

In the transaction, the Bruins also assigned goalie Niklas Svedberg to Providence.
