The worst goaltending performance of Thursday night ironically included the night’s best save.
Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin was shelled in Phoenix, surrendering a career-worst six goals in a 6-3 loss to the Coyotes. Poulin has not been the answer in his first turn as a full-time starter. The 23-year-old has posted a 4-12-0 record this season with a 3.25 goals against average and .892 save percentage — ranking 40th among NHL netminders in both categories.
Poulin did turn in one highlight-reel stop against the Coyotes, though, sliding from right to left in the crease to rob Mike Ribeiro with a lunging glove save.
