Peyton Manning has had a season for the record books, and that’s exactly where he wound up by the end of the Broncos’ game on Sunday.

Manning threw for more than 400 yards against the Texans and connected on four touchdowns on the afternoon, which were just enough to tie and then ultimately break Tom Brady‘s NFL record for most touchdowns in a season. Brady originally broke Manning’s record of 49 touchdowns during the Patriots’ near-perfect 2007 season, hitting Randy Moss for the record 50th in Week 17.

Manning got his record back on Sunday, connecting on three fourth-quarter touchdowns to get over the hump. Late in the fourth quarter in Houston, Manning threw a 20-yard strike to Eric Decker to tie Brady’s mark. Less than two minutes later, the ageless quarterback threw a dart to tight end Julius Thomas, who found his way into the end zone for a the 25-yard score.

With 400 yards on the afternoon, Manning is also now just 256 yards away from Drew Brees‘ single-season record for passing yards in a season. He will have the chance to break that record against the Raiders next weekend — if he plays, of course.
