Red Sox Not Likely To Enter Masahiro Tanaka Sweepstakes (Video)

With seemingly every major league team clamoring for Masahiro Tanaka’s services, the Boston Red Sox can rest easy knowing they already boast a healthy amount of depth in their pitching staff.

Although the Red Sox could enter the Tanaka sweepstakes, Red Sox reporter Ian Browne doesn’t believe that they will. Tanaka’s price tag is going to be through the roof, and although the Red Sox have some financial freedom, Browne sees someone like the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Dodgers outbidding them no matter what their offer is.

The contract that Boston gave to Daisuke Matsuzaka in 2006 might also be keeping them out of this race. They went all in on Dice-K and after getting burned on that deal, they have been weary of handing out monster contracts.

Check out the above video to hear more about why Tanaka likely won’t end up in Boston.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
