Carlos BeltranCarlos Beltran is believed to be looking for a three-year deal. He might get his wish.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Beltran is said to have a three-year, $48 million offer in hand. It’s unclear who extended the three-year offer, but Olney reports that teams are becoming convinced that Beltran is going to land with the Royals on such a deal.

Beltran has been linked to a number of teams this offseason, including the Red Sox, Yankees and Mariners. The Yankees reportedly made Beltran their top priority after signing catcher Brian McCann to a five-year, $85 million contract, but ESPN.com’s Andrew Marchand reports that New York won’t go to three years and $48 million if that is indeed the price tag for the 36-year-old outfielder.

The Royals have been somewhat of a dark horse in the Beltran sweepstakes. Things picked up Tuesday, though, as the New York Post reported that the eight-time All-Star was in Kansas City being wooed by the club that drafted him back in 1995.
