Shortly after his former Yankees teammate punched his ticket out of the Bronx, Curtis Granderson is moving on, as well.
The free-agent outfielder has agreed to terms on a four-year, $60 million contract with the Mets, pending the outcome of a physical, multiple media outlets reported Friday. Joel Sherman of the New York Post was the first to report the news.
Granderson’s deal is not nearly as lucrative as Robinson Cano‘s reported 10-year, $240 million pact with Seattle, but it is an improvement from the one-year, $14.1 million qualifying offer from the Yankees he turned to test free agency.
Injuries limited Granderson to just 61 games this season, in which he hit .229 with seven home runs and 15 RBIs. He’ll be joined in the Mets outfield by fellow newcomer Chris Young, who signed a one-year, $7.25 million deal after spending the 2013 season in Oakland.
