Report: Driver In Crash That Killed Actor Paul Walker Drove in Pirelli World Challenge Auto Racing Series

Paul Walker, Roger Rodas blendActor Paul Walker didn’t just have a need for speed on the silver screen, he was also a car enthusiast off of it. The Fast & Furious star was killed in a car crash on Saturday along with Roger Rodas, the owner of Always Evolving, a performance auto racing team that Walker raced for.

Rodas was reportedly the driver in the crash and had driven in the Pirelli World Challenge, an auto racing series sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America, according to Nick Bromberg of Yahoo! Sports. Rodas drove in the GTS Series this season.

The two were Porsche enthusiasts who owned the race team, Always Evolving, together. The Porsche Carrera GT they were in crashed when they were driving the car from a charity event to raise money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. According to authorities, the car was completely engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Rodas finished second in the Porsche Drivers Cup Series last year at the Pirelli World Challenge, with two wins for Always Evolving.
