Report: Rob Gronkowski Told His Knee Will Be Healed by Start of 2014 Season

Rob GronkowskiIf all goes as planned, the Patriots will have their star tight end back next September.

Rob Gronkowski has been told his knee should be ready for the start of the 2014 season, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. Gronkowski tore his ACL and MCL in Week 14 against the Browns. Breer tweeted that Gronkowski is expected to have surgery “in about two weeks.”

Gronkowski’s surgery will be performed by Dr. James Andrews. Andrews was one doctor Gronkowski consulted before returning from his broken forearm and surgically repaired back in Week 7.

Early reports indicated it could be a full year before Gronkowski returns to the field. The tight end is keeping off his knee for now. He was spotted grocery shopping on a motorized scooter on Sunday.
