Baseball’s hot stove has never been hotter.
In one of the craziest offseason days in league history, we have seen a major free-agent signing with Jacoby Ellsbury reportedly going to the New York Yankees, the Colorado Rockies and Houston Astros making a four-player trade, Jarrod Saltalamacchia reportedly signing with the Miami Marlins, and the Boston Red Sox signing A.J. Pierzynski.
But there still might be another move to come before Tuesday’s transactions conclude.
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, free-agent first baseman Justin Morneau appears to be headed for Colorado.

Morneau, 32, hit .259 with 17 home runs and 74 RBIs in 127 games with the Twins in 2013, and following a mid-season trade to the Pittsburgh Pirates, he batted .260 with zero home runs and three RBIs in 25 games in the National League. The veteran first baseman was one of the game’s best hitters not too long ago (he won the 2006 AL MVP), but multiple concussions robbed him of a good portion of his prime.
Adding Morneau to an already talented lineup would make Colorado one of the most exciting teams in baseball next season.
