After losing 111 games in the 2013 season, the Houston Astros have made a trade with the Colorado Rockies to add outfield depth and bolster the top of their lineup.
Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Rockers have dealt center fielder Dexter Fowler to Houston in a four-player deal.

Fowler hit 12 home runs, drove in 42 runs and tallied a .263 batting average in 119 games for Colorado this past season. Although, he struggled to be productive from the plate away from Coors Field, hitting .214 with 64 strikeouts on the road.
The 27-year-old was once a very promising young player, but a poor 2013 campaign didn’t help his trade value and it clearly impacted the Rockies in this deal.

However, Fowler’s presence in the Astros lineup (possibly as the leadoff hitter) will definitely help them improve on a dismal 2013 season in which they ranked 26th in runs, 29th in batting average and 29th in on-base percentage. He’s also a quality defensive player with the speed needed to chase down fly balls in a spacious center field at Minute Maid Park.
