Scott Clemmensen Denies Martin St. Louis With Flailing Skate Save (Video)

They should start calling him Scott “The Scorpion” Clemmensen.

Actually, based on the way he played overall on Monday night, the Panthers goaltender may not be deserving of a cool nickname.

The Tampa Bay Lightning lit Clemmensen up like a Christmas tree, torching him for a half-dozen goals in a 6-1 win, but the goalie did come through with one highlight-reel save.

With the Lightning leading 2-1 in the second period, Martin St. Louis blew past Florida defenseman Tom Gilbert near the faceoff dot and moved in on Clemmensen. He had the goalie beat, as well, but Clemmensen elevated his skates at the last moment to prevent the Tampa captain from lighting the lamp.

Gilbert was called for hooking on the play, however, and Valtteri Filppula finished what St. Louis started by beating Clemmensen on the ensuing power play.
