The game between the Spurs and the Timberwolves in Mexico City has been postponed due to smoke in the arena.

The highly anticipated matchup between the two squads in Mexico experienced a setback before play even got underway, as players and media members were forced to evacuate 45 minutes before tipoff because of smoke in the arena.

While players were warming up, smoke began to fill the lower bowl and lights began to go out in parts of the stadium. The San-Antonio Express News also reported that the Spurs had board the team’s bus because smoke began to invade the locker rooms and players were having difficulty breathing.

According to Minnesota broadcaster, Dave Benz, an electrical fire in an elevator was what triggered the smoke and eventual evacuation of the entire arena.

Unable to clear the smoke out of the stadium, the game was eventually postponed. No reschedule date is known at this time.
