Team USA Wearing 1960s Throwback Jerseys Against Canada in World Junior Championship (Photo)

Team USA faces Canada on Tuesday in the final Group A game at the IIHF Junior World Championship — and will do so in style.

The Americans will don 1960s throwback jerseys for the game, honoring U.S. hockey’s original golden boys. The Miracle on Ice wasn’t the first time Team USA achieved Olympic gold — it also took home the top hardware in 1960 with a stunning victory over Canada in Squaw Valley, Calif.

The underdog 1960 U.S. squad featured Harvard’s Bill and Bob Cleary and brothers Bill and Roger Christian from Minnesota. The team was coached by Medford, Mass., native Jack Riley.

The 2013 version of Team USA has a chance to earn the top seed in Group A heading into Thursday’s quarterfinal round of the Junior World Championship.
