Julian Edelman, Johnson BademosiFOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady lamented the fact that he doesn’t have a cool nickname earlier in the season. Apparently, like on the field with the football, he’s better at dishing them out.

Brady dubbed Julian Edelman “Minitron” after the Patriots’ close win over the Texans. The nickname, which is a take on Calvin Johnson‘s “Megatron” has caught on.

“Has it? Good,” Brady said. “I like it. It fits him well.”

Brady wouldn’t get into the specifics of how he developed the nickname for his most-targeted receiver this season, except to say once again that it fits him well.

“That’s very private between he and I,” Brady said. “Yes. But I do like it. It fits him very well, hence the nickname.”

Edelman is seven inches shorter and 38 pounds lighter than Megatron. Edelman has one more catch than Johnson but 573 fewer yards and five touchdowns to the Detroit wideout’s 12.
