A new chapter in one of the NFL’s best rivalries will be written on Sunday when the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens host the AFC East-leading New England Patriots.
Neither team has clinched a playoff berth yet, but the Patriots can accomplish this goal with a victory in Week 16. But if New England loses to Baltimore and then drops the regular-season finale at home against the Buffalo Bills, it’s possible that the team could miss the postseason.
Bill Belichick will want his guys to clinch a playoff berth as soon as possible so some of the Patriots’ injured players can get a week of extra rest before the playoffs begin, but defeating a talented Ravens team that has won four straight games and is playing some of its best football of the season is a difficult challenge.
The Patriots have also struggled on the road this season with a 3-4 record, and they lost their most recent matchup in Baltimore 31-30 in Week 3 of the 2012 season.
