The Bruins and Penguins set the tone for Saturday night’s game just seconds into the contest with Brooks Orpik laying out Loui Eriksson with a monster hit.
Things continued to be chippy from there on out, with the height of the physical play culminating in a scary scene as Orpik had to be stretchered off the ice. It was a 60-minute battle for both squads, but two third-period goals from the Bruins pushed them past the Eastern Conference-leading Pens.
David Krejci tied things up with under two minutes to play in the third, and then Zdeno Chara rifled one past Marc-Andrew Fluery with just 13 seconds remaining to give the B’s the hard-fought win.
