Vinatieri will be a free agent this offseason after finishing his eighth season with the Indianapolis Colts. However, even with his future very much in question, he has expressed an interest in playing for “two or three more years.”
“I don’t think that’s out of my limits,” Vinatieri said Thursday night, per ESPN. “I’d like to do it for a while [longer].”
Age hasn’t hindered Vinatieri in recent years. The almost timeless kicker has been incredibly accurate since joining the Colts in 2006. After a down season in 2012, when he hit just 26 of 33 field goal attempts, Vinatieri returned to his usual form in 2013, knocking through a career-high 35 field goals in 40 attempts.
Vinatieri’s career has been full of achievements, including kicking in five Super Bowls and winning four championships (three with the New England Patriots, one with the Colts), so at least a few teams, including the Colts, will likely line up for his services.
