It’s clear at this point that the 2013 Heisman Trophy was given to the right player.

Heisman winner Jameis Winston rallied his Florida State Seminoles to an epic comeback win in Monday night’s BCS National Championship game, but during the game, someone else made it known that he thought he deserved the hardware more. After FSU gave Auburn its first deficit of the game in the fourth quarter, the Tigers — led by Heisman finalist Tre Mason — answered right back.

Auburn marched down to the Seminoles’ 37-yard line with less than two minutes to go. On the final play of the drive, Mason burst through the line, bouncing off a couple of would-be tacklers en route to the end zone to give the Tigers the lead with 1:19 to go in the game. After his celebration with his teammates, Mason turned to the ESPN camera that was trained on him and struck the Heisman pose.

Winston got the last laugh, though, throwing a touchdown pass with 17 seconds left on the clock to put Florida State up 34-31 for the win.
