MarShon BrooksThe Boston Celtics have recalled shooting guard MarShon Brooks from the NBA Development League, the team announced Thursday.

Brooks was sent to the D-League on Jan. 1 to play for the Maine Red Claws. The former first-round pick averaged 27.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in 35.0 minutes per game for the Red Claws. He also scored 36 points against Tulsa on Jan. 5.

After being acquired by the Celtics in the trade that sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets last summer, Brooks failed to earn an important role in Boston’s rotation under rookie head coach Brad Stevens. In nine games for the Celtics this season, Brooks is averaging 3.2 points, 0.3 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per contest.

The Celtics continue their West Coast road trip on Friday when they take on the Golden State Warriors in Oakland.
