Final, Bruins 3-2:Â That’s it, and that’s all.
The Bruins hang on in the final moments, and they’re back on the winning track with a 3-2 win over the Kings.
Third period, 19:15, Bruins 3-2:Â The Los Angeles net is empty, and the Bruins are going on the power play.
Just as Jonathan Quick came out of the net, Brad Marchand looked like he had a chance for an empty-net goal. However, Jake Muzzin cut Marchand down coming out of the zone. The hip/knee check looked more like interference, but Muzzin is called for tripping.
Third period, 16:03, Bruins 3-2:Â Some frantic moments here late in the third period.
The Bruins’ first line almost gave the B’s the insurance goal they’re looking for, and they came within inches of putting it over the goal line. Unfortunately for the B’s, the deflected puck in front fell behind Jonathan Quick, but stayed in the paint just long enough for the Kings to clear the crease. That left Kevan Miller with a shot from the right point, but he gave up that look. He passed it to Zdeno Chara who put the shot on net, but Quick stopped that.
The Kings quickly transitioned back the other way where Jeff Carter had a chance for his second goal as he came barreling down the right wing, but his shot was stopped by Chad Johnson, and it’s still 3-2 in favor of Boston.
Third period, 13:00, Bruins 3-2:Â The Kings haven’t showed any signs of let-up following the Brad Marchand goal, and they have the Bruins on their heels at the moment.
Third period, 8:53, Bruins 3-2:Â The Bruins have responded.
Brad Marchand continues his red-hot streak with a goal from the slot after a gorgeous pass from Reilly Smith.
Marchand’s second consecutive two-goal game has the B’s back in th e lead.
Third period, 8:35, 2-2:Â The Kings make the penalty hurt.
Jeff Carter just ripped a one-timer from the top of the left circle, and the shot beats Chad Johnson. The Kings have tied the game.
Third period, 7:21, Bruins 2-1:Â The Bruins are going to have to kill off a penalty here midway through the period.
Johnny Boychuk was just called for hooking. It will be 4-on-3 for 1:10 as Patrice Bergeron and Jarret Stoll are already in the box for matching minors.
Third period, 5:30, Bruins 2-1:Â Gregory Campbell was the beneficiary some good forechecking out of two of the Bruins’ top-line forwards.
Campbell had a chance right in front of the net, but Jonathan Quick turned Campbell’s shot aside with a save that looked like it was made with Quick’s right arm.
Third period, 1:30, Bruins 2-1:Â The Bruins kill the penalty, and the game is back to even strength.
Third period, 0:01, Bruins 2-1:Â The third period is underway. The Bruins will have to kill off 1:19 of Matt Bartkowski’s penalty to begin the period.

Second period, 19:19, Bruins 2-1:Â For the second time in as many days, Matt Bartkowski is going to the penalty box in the final minute of a period.
He was just called for interference, and that likely means the Kings will start the third on the power play — assuming nothing changes in the next 41.1 seconds.
Second period, 14:57, Bruins 2-1:Â The Bruins weren’t able to score on the power play, and Jonathan Quick was once again, the biggest reason for that.
Quick made another huge save on Zdeno Chara, as the Bruins captain had another great scoring chance in front of the net, but Quick made the save.

Second period, 12:19, Bruins 2-1:Â The Kings just turned the puck over in their own zone, and to make matters worse, the puck ended up on Brad Marchand’s stick, who is the hottest Bruin right now.
Marchand just barely missed the net with a wrist shot from the slot, though.
Second period, 10:00, Bruins 2-1:Â The Bruins just got a big save out of Chad Johnson.
The goalie made a real nice right pad save on Matt Frattin at the end of a pretty good surge from the Kings.
Second period, 7:39, Bruins 2-1:Â Jonathan Quick has allowed two goals today, but he’s also come up with some pretty big saves.
He just had arguably his best of the day when he stoned Reilly Smith on the doorstep. Smith took a pass from Patrice Bergeron in front and tried to beat Quick, but the goalie spread his legs and made a great pad save to keep it a one-goal game.
Second period, 4:09, Bruins 2-1:Â The Kings are back within a goal.
Willie Mitchell just scored his first goal of the season when he roofed a shot over Chad Johnson’s shoulder after taking a pass from Mike Richards. Mitchell stepped into the slot and was left all alone where he buried the chance for his first of the year.
Second period, 2:30, Bruins 2-0:Â The Bruins’ power play is over without a goal. The B’s came close, though.
Zdeno Chara had a chance to score from the bottom of the right faceoff dot, but Jonathan Quick made his best save of the day as he got the puck with his arm or glove and just barely kept it from crossing the goal line.
Second period, 0:29, Bruins 2-0:Â The Bruins are going tback on the power play. Willie Mitchell was just called for interference, and the B’s will look to push the lead to 3-0.

First period, 17:51, Bruins 2-0:Â Torey Krug has had an interesting day that now includes a goal.
The Bruins defenseman just blasted a shot from the left faceoff circle by Jonathan Quick to push the Bruins’ lead to 2-0.

Robyn Regehr just got called for hooking.
First period, 15:40, Bruins 1-0:Â The Bruins killed off the penalty. Brad Marchand almost added another shorthanded goal, but a potential 2-on-1 with he and Patrice Bergeron was broken up before Marchand could get the puck on his stick.
First period, 14:25, Bruins 1-0:Â Jordan Nolan took some flak recently for not dropping the gloves after a big hit. He answered the bell this afternoon, though, and it didn’t look like much fun.
Nolan landed a hit on Torey Krug that Milan Lucic took exception to the hit, and Lucic got Nolan to drop the gloves. What resulted was a big-time bought.
The Bruins will have to be shorthanded, though. Lucic was given a roughing penalty on that.
First period, 12:50, Bruins 1-0:Â Brad Marchand is on some sort of roll.
The Bruins winger just scored yet another shorthanded goal, and this one was a thing of beauty. He tried to get free on a breakaway, and was close as he tried to maneuver around Drew Doughty. The Kings defenseman lost his stick, but broke up the play.
Marchand then retrieved the loose puck and stickhandled aroudn Anze Kopitar and beat Jonathan Quick to the five-hole.
First period, 11:33, 0-0:Â The Kings get the game’s first power play.
David Krejci was just called for high sticking after getting his stick up around Drew Doughty’s neck.
First period, 10:56, 0-0:Â The Kings just tried to take advantage of the Bruins’ fourth line, and it resulted in L.A.’s best chance of the afternoon.
Alec Martinez jumped on a loose puck in the slot as there was plenty of traffic in front of the net. The puck got through to Chad Johnson who made his most difficult save of the game so far
First period, 8:00, 0-0:Â The Kings have three shots on goal, but the Bruins have done a nice job to make sure none of those attempts were anything too difficult for Chad Johnson.
The Kings have yet to produce a good scoring chance.
First period, 4:43, 0-0:Â Another scoring chance for the Bruins, as Milan Lucic makes a cross-ice pass ahead to Jarome Iginla, who was able to get a shot off from the right wing. Jonathan Quick made the relatively easy save, as the shot hit Quick in the bread basket.
First period, 1:34, 0-0:Â The Bruins just got the game’s first scoring chance.
Drew Doughty lost control of the puck right in front of his own net, and Reilly Smith was handed a golden scoring chance, but he was too close to the net to get a good angle or really stickhandle even, and Jonathan Quick made a relatively easy save.
First period, 0:01, 0-0:Â And we’re off. The Bruins are back home, and the game is underway.
2:40 p.m.:Â The Bruins and Kings are well into warmups, and it looks as if we’ve got the full Bruins lineup figured out.
Nothing changes up front, as the Boston forward lines remain the same. The changes obviously come on the back end.
Zach Trotman will play his second career NHL game, and he’ll be paired with Torey Krug.

2:30 p.m.:Â Warmups have begun at TD Garden, and Chad Johnson is going to get the start for the Bruins. He’ll be opposed by Jonathan Quick for the Kings.
2 p.m.:Â It’s official: Adam McQuaid is out today, and Zach Trotman will be in the Boston lineup. Bruins coach Claude Julien just said in his pregame media session that McQuaid has a leg injury and is still being evaluated.
11:10 a.m.:Â It sure looks as if Adam McQuaid won’t be in the lineup against the Los Angeles Kings, but we won’t know for sure for another few hours.
However, the Bruins did recall Zach Trotman from Providence following Sunday’s shootout loss in Chicago. If Trotman is indeed inserted into the lineup against Los Angeles, it will be the young defenseman’s second NHL game. The 23-year-old Indiana native made his NHL debut on Dec. 28 against the Ottawa Senators. Trotman was the definition of an emergency recall for that game. He was called up hours before puck drop after Zdeno Chara was ruled out of the lineup with an undisclosed injury.
Trotman handled himself about as well as a rookie D-man making his NHL debut on hours notice could in that eventual loss to the Sens. Trotman played 16:41 and put three shots on goal in his NHL debut.
8 a.m.: The schedule-makers didn’t do the Bruins any favors when it came to the stretch of games they’re in right now. That stretch will come to an end this week with a three-day break, but that’s not before they take on the Los Angeles Kings on Monday afternoon.
The B’s will host the Kings in their annual Martin Luther King Day matinee at TD Garden, and it will mark the Bruins’ second game in as many days. Boston was in Chicago on Sunday afternoon for the first half of a back-to-back. The Bruins dropped the Stanley Cup Final rematch 3-2 in a shootout and will look to bounce back.
It won’t be an easy task, though, as one of the Western Conference’s top teams will be waiting. The Kings have struggled some as of late — they have lost six of their last 10 — but they’re still an incredibly tough team to play against. The Bruins were reminded of that on Oct. 9 when they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Kings. Boston goalie Tuukka Rask was lifted early in the second period of that game, as the Boston penalty kill fell apart in the loss.
The Bruins are currently in the midst of trying to build some consistency before they enter the Olympic break next month. The B’s won Thursday night in Dallas, and while they technically came up on the losing end Sunday in Chicago, they certainly played a strong game. Claude Julien’s bunch was solid defensively, and they were in position to win that game, but they just couldn’t cash in on their chances. That included an 0-for-3 showing on the power play.
Boston may have to make a roster move for Monday’s game against the Kings. Defenseman Adam McQuaid left the game in Chicago with an undisclosed injury. His didn’t touch the ice after the 11:26 mark in the second period and didn’t return for the third period. Julien offered no update on the blue liner following Sunday’s game. The B’s are already without Dougie Hamilton who is out with a concussion.
Puck drop for Monday’s matinee from the Garden is slated for 3 p.m.
