For the first time in his career, Champ Bailey‘s age was beginning to show this season, which raised some questions about his future. He’s not quite ready to answer them just yet, though.
Bailey, 35, is finishing his 15th season and 10th with the Denver Broncos. Ankle injuries limited the All-Pro cornerback to just five games during the regular season and has slowed him some in the playoffs, but Bailey isn’t worrying about his future in the league, at least not until after next Sunday.
“I’m not really thinking about retiring,” Bailey said upon arriving in New York for Super Bowl week on Sunday night. “All I’m thinking about is winning. Doing what I need to do to win the game.”
When pushed on the issue, Bailey didn’t budge but on his statement.
“After the game, we’ll talk about that,” Bailey added.
As for his health heading into next Sunday’s game, Bailey acknowledged that he isn’t 100 percent but the same could be said about every player on both the Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.
“I don’t think anyone on any roster is 100%,” Bailey said. “My foot feels good.”
