Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan O’Reilly might be sidelined for the Avs’ next game due to a injury suffered while celebrating a goal — and it wasn’t even his goal.

O’Reilly’s unfortunate celebration came after a Paul Stastny tally during an eventual 4-3 loss to the Calgary Flames on Monday. O’Reilly skated toward his teammates to congratulate Stastny on his 12th goal of the season, but he emerged from the scrum of blue jerseys holding his shoulder and went straight into the locker room.

“Essentially, he got it jammed while extending his left arm into the group hug,” The Denver Post’s Adrian Dater writes. “The Avs say he is day-to-day, so we’ll see [Wednesday] if he plays or not against Ottawa.”
