Richard ShermanRichard Sherman‘s postgame interview with Erin Andrews, in which he called out San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree, put the All-Pro cornerback in the spotlight immediately after he helped put the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII with a game-deciding play.

According to Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis, Sherman acted selfishly following Sunday night’s NFC Championship Game.

“I didn’t think that was good on his part,” Revis said Wednesday at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “If you listen to what the reporter asked him, it was nothing about him, it was about the team, and he put himself ahead of the team.

“Other than that, he’s an entertainer. … He talks. He probably talks in his sleep. I thought he shouldn’t have said all that.”

Sherman acknowledged to ESPN’s Ed Werder on Monday that his postgame comments got in the way of his teammates receiving the deserved amount of praise for a fantastic defensive performance.

“I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates,” Sherman said. “That was not my intent.”

Seeing this type of criticism from Revis isn’t a surprise, given his history with Sherman. The two corners got into a Twitter feud in February, and here are a few tweets from that conversation.

It’s hard to disagree that Sherman put himself ahead of his team when speaking to Andrews, but it’s hard to blame him because it happened right after the best win of his career, one that he played a major role in securing. He was emotional and spoke his mind.

Most of the best cornerbacks feed off their competitiveness and “I’m the best” attitude. Sherman is one of these players, and there’s nothing wrong with that. He backs up his talk with elite-level performance on the field.
