If any player defined the 2013 New England Patriots’ “mental toughness,” it was Julian Edelman.
It appeared the receiver finally broke when the season ended, however. Edelman was visibly shaken as he met with the media after the Patriots fell 26-16 to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
The suddenly clean-shaven Edelman said he was proud to be part of the team and called the Patriots a “special group.”
Edelman earned every penny he will get as a free agent this offseason, but he’s understandably not thinking about his next step just yet.
“I’m not even thinking about that right now,” Edelman told reporters in Denver on Sunday. “I’m thinking about the fellas in this locker room, the coaches, all the hard work we put in.”
