Opinions vary widely on the interview Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman gave Erin Andrews immediately after Seattle edged the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. Some praised Sherman for speaking his mind and avoiding the typical cliches, while others called him a spotlight-craving punk.

Some have even said Andrews looked scared during Sherman’s anti-Michael Crabtree rant, which the sideline reporter said Monday couldn’t be further from the truth.

“How much have you and I wanted a moment like that,” Andrews told Dan Patrick on his radio show, “where an athlete didn’t say, ‘We’re playing Seahawks ball, we’re taking it play by play, game by game, this is what we wanted?’ He lost his mind, and it was awesome, for once. He never threatened me, he never cussed at me or the camera, and I never was frightened.”

Whether you were a fan of the interview or not, there’s no question that it shattered the usual mold.
