Scott Hartnell came this close to netting his fourth goal in five games Wednesday night. Instead, he’ll probably be the target of a heavy dose of locker-room chirping.

During a game against the Montreal Canadiens, the Philadelphia Flyers winger seemed to be set up for an easy goal when his shot trickled through the legs of Habs goalie Peter Budaj. However, a combination of the post, Tomas Plekanec‘s stick and a sliding P.K. Subban prevented the puck from crossing the goal line, and Hartnell completed the unfortunate sequence by catching an edge and nosediving to the ice behind the net.

The Flyers did manage to pull out a 3-1 win, though, letting Hartnell off the hook for his failure to close.

Now, feel free to laugh at Hartsy’s expense. We’re sure he’ll understand.
