Frank Thomas All Smiles After Learning of Hall of Fame Selection (Photo)

Frank Thomas is headed to Cooperstown, and he couldn’t be happier.

The Big Hurt was named on 83.7 percent of Baseball Writers’ Association of America ballots, securing his spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame alongside fellow 2014 inductees Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine.

Thomas spent 16 of his 18 major league seasons with the Chicago White Sox, earning five All-Star nods, two Silver Slugger Awards and two MVPs. His induction into the Hall of Fame is not particularly surprising — he was selected in his first year of eligibility, after all — but Thomas was nonetheless overjoyed when news of the final vote came down.
