Christian VazquezThis should be an interesting year for the Red Sox Rookie Development Program.

The Red Sox announced Tuesday that 10 players will participate in this year’s Rookie Program, which aims to familiarize up-and-coming minor leaguers with members of the major league staff. The camp will take place from Jan. 13 to Jan. 18, and a number of the participating prospects could make an impact with the Red Sox in the near future.

Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa were among those who participated in the 2013 Rookie Program. Each of those players saw action with the major league club last season, and there are a few players participating this winter who could follow a similar path.

Christian Vazquez, Henry Owens and Garin Cecchini are among the most intriguing 2014 participants. Each of the 10 players involved with the camp comes with an interesting back story, though, especially since the Red Sox have one of the deepest farm systems in Major League Baseball.
