This is the downside of sitting in the front row.

Kansas freshman Wayne Selden Jr. came inches away from making an incredible save on a loose ball during the Jayhawks’ 78-68 win over Baylor on Monday. His right foot touched just over the line, though, and his left foot clocked one poor Jayhawks supporter in the face.

Mark Brandmeyer, a 1982 Kansas graduate, took the brunt of Selden’s plunge into the crowd, but he told FOXSports.com after the game that he’s just glad the woman and child sitting next to him avoided bodily harm. Brandmeyer also didn’t seem too worried about his own well-being, either.

“[It was] so incredible,” he said. “It was a hustle play. And what an incredible athlete Wayne Selden is.”

The win was Kansas’ fourth straight over a ranked opponent, and Selden, a Roxbury, Mass., native, said he didn’t feel the effects of his stage dive until after the adrenaline of the game wore off.

“[It didn’t feel] too bad,” Selden said when asked if he hurt himself on the play. “Now I feel it.”
