Kelly Olynyk Tosses Up Consecutive Air Balls During Celtics’ Loss to Clippers (GIFs)

Kelly Olynyk played his first game on the West Coast since his Gonzaga days on Wednesday, and his return to the Pacific time zone was one he’d rather forget.

The Boston Celtics rookie turned in seven points and four rebounds in 18 minutes against the Los Angeles Clippers, but he also tossed up two of the most atrocious air balls you will see all season — on back-to-back possessions.

The first came when Olynyk drove down the lane and attempted to loft a floater over Clippers center Ryan Hollins. The only problem was, it floated just a bit too much.

Then, on the Celtics’ very next trip down the floor, Olynyk received a pass at the top of the arc and put up a 3-pointer that fell way, way short.

Boston made a game of it until the final minutes, but the Clippers eventually pulled away for a 111-105 win. The loss was the Celtics’ sixth straight, with games against the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers still awaiting before they wrap up their brutal Western Conference swing against the Rockets in Houston.
