LeBron James will have an opportunity to add to his already impressive resume at the 2016 Summer Olympics — if he decides to play, that is.
The Miami Heat star says that he won’t commit to playing on the U.S. men’s basketball team just yet, per FOX Sports.
“I don’t know where I stand for 2016,” James said. “Obviously, if I’m healthy in 2016 that summer, if I can get to leading our country by playing, then that would be great to be a part of that.
“But I can’t commit to it right now.”
Earlier this week, James was named as one of the 28 players who will make up the upcoming World Championship and Olympic rosters. Though he is hesitant, James acknowledged how special it is to get to play for coach Mike Krzyzewski.
“It’s just significant playing for Coach K,” James said. “I love playing for Coach K. He’s one of the beat coaches I’ve ever played for, if not the best.”
While the process of creating a U.S. men’s basketball team has already started, James has plenty of other events to focus on before he thinks more about the 2016 Olympics.
The leading vote-getter for this year’s All-Star Game, James and teammate Dwyane Wade were each named as starters for the East’s team. It will be James’ 10th straight season participating in the game.
Between the All-Star Game and trying to lead his team to its third straight title in as many years, it’s hard to blame James for not thinking too far forward. In the meantime, fans will just have to hope that James stays healthy for many years to come.
