Lindsey Vonn seemed like she was on the comeback trail and would be ready to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics, but injuries will keep her from representing Team USA in Sochi.
Vonn posted on her Facebook page Tuesday that she is “devastated” she will not be able to compete in Sochi because she is not physically ready.
“I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL, but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level,” she said.
Vonn tore her ACL in February during a crash at the world championships and vigorously rehabbed to try to return to the slopes in September. She suffered another knee injury in November and will require surgery. Vonn said she plans to be ready to hit the competitive circuit again in time for the 2015 world championships.
Vonn has competed in each of the last three Winter Olympics, winning bronze in Super-G and gold in downhill at the 2010 games in Vancouver.
