Marshawn Lynch didn’t say much at Super Bowl Media Day on Tuesday, leaving his initial interview session after about six minutes. Even when NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders cornered the All-Pro running back, Lynch didn’t seem too interested in talking.
Sanders caught up with Lynch a few minutes after his brief stint with the media, and tried to initiate some discussion with the elusive Beast Mode, but Lynch wasn’t really taking the bait. The interview lasted about two minutes, and Lynch didn’t offer much more than a few words in any of his answers, even if he did drop an expletive when complimenting Sanders’ wardrobe.
While remaining relatively quiet on the whole, Lynch did open up a bit about why he doesn’t do much chatting with the media, explaining that he’s “just about that action, boss.”
“That’s what it is. I ain’t never seen no talking winning nothing,” Lynch said, per NFL.com. “Been like that since I was little. I was raised like that.”
The Seattle Seahawks running back didn’t speak to reporters much this season, which prompted the league to threaten him with a hefty fine if he sat out of Media Day. Lynch remained fairly reserved but did make himself available to reporters during the postseason to avoid incurring the six-figure fine.
Lynch’s only other real emotion in the interview came when Sanders asked if he was excited about the game, to which the running back responded in an almost adolescent teen screech “Hell yeah. Yeah!”
While Lynch’s media session was far shorter and less involved than other players on Tuesday, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello seemed to indicate the running back wouldn’t be fined for his actions.
“Players are required to participate and he participated,” Aiello said, per ESPN.
Although seemingly unintentionally, Lynch stole the show at this year’s Super Bowl Media Day, and he didn’t have to use many words to do so.
