Miami Television Station Does Nothing to Boost Florida Panthers’ Self-Esteem, Flubs Team’s Logo (Photo)

Maybe in 2014 the Florida Panthers will earn some respect in South Florida.

While the state of Florida is not exactly hockey heaven, a Miami television station set back whatever progress the Panthers had made of late in a recent attempt to show the home team’s logo. The NBC affiliate was recapping the Panthers-Rangers matchup on New Year’s Eve, and although the New York emblem was represented accurately on the screen, Florida’s logo was not even kind of close.

The depiction was more reminiscent of the Carolina Panthers mascot, but ultimately it looked like someone had simply typed “panther” into Google and pulled up the first image result.

Florida is in the basement of the Atlantic Division with a 15-20-6 record, but hey, it’s a new year, and anything can happen. The team could start winning, and its home market might start using its actual logo.
