New Jersey Devils’ Insane Goal From Center Ice Caps Rout Of Blues (Video)

New Jersey Devils defenseman Eric Gelinas nailed the equivalent of a halfcourt shot during his team’s steamrolling of the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.

With the Devils already leading 6-1 midway through the third period, Gelinas attempted to wrap the puck around the end boards with a slapshot from center ice. By a stroke of luck, though, the puck found its way into the back of the net.

Gelinas’ shot deflected off Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo along the side boards, sending a knuckleball of a bouncing puck toward St. Louis goalie Jaroslav Halak. Halak was in position, but he could not corral the puck, which bounced off his pads, straight over his head and into the net.

The seven goals — all scored by different skaters — were a season high for the Devils, who had managed to score more than three in a game just once in the last month.

Check out Gelinas’ wacky tally in the video below.
