Olympians Gracie Gold, Steve Langton Among Massachusetts Natives Headed To Sochi (Gallery)

The 2014 Winter Olympics are just weeks away, and memories of Aly Raisman, Mike Eruzione, Jim Craig and Alex Meyer are a reminder of the many Massachusetts natives who have donned U.S. gear come Olympic season.

This February in Sochi, there will be Mass. athletes competing in women’s ice hockey, men’s ice hockey, luge, women’s bobsled, men’s bobsled, figure skating, freestyle skiing and halfpipe skiing (a new event this year). Gracie Gold, a modern-day Tara Lipinski from Newton, is bound for popularity this year as the golden girl of the skating team

Whether it’s Gold, Steve Langton of Melrose, Mass., or one of the many women on the U.S. ice hockey team, audiences can look forward to seeing these local stars on a global stage.

Before the Olympic torch is lit, here’s a look at eight athletes who are headed to Sochi to represent both the U.S. and their home state of Massachusetts.
