Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were Bostonians again, if only for one night.
Pierce and Garnett returned Sunday for the first time since the trade that sent them to the Brooklyn Nets last summer. Their former team, the Boston Celtics, looks much different, and the goals on Causeway Street are more modest now. But Celtics fans still love two-thirds of their old “Big Three,” as they showed Sunday.
It is not often that a player returns to his old stomping grounds, before his career is over, and is showered in adulation the way Pierce and Garnett were. For several long minutes, the TD Garden crowd relived the glory days and expressed their appreciation.
NESN.com Celtics/NBA editor Ben Watanabe and NESN Sports Today anchor Adam Pellerin sat down to reflect on Pierce and Garnett’s time in Boston. They came away with a new appreciation not just for the two players, but for Boston fans as a whole.
