Peyton Manning Is Only Broncos Or Seahawks Player With Super Bowl Ring

Peyton ManningMuch is made about Peyton Manning‘s lack of Super Bowl rings. Well, don’t look now, but Manning is actually the only player participating in next Sunday’s showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos with a ring to his name.

Manning is just one of four players to have even played in a Super Bowl before this season. Wide receiver Wes Welker (New England Patriots in 2008 and 2012), cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (Arizona Cardinals in 2009) and tight end Jacob Tamme (Indianapolis Colts in 2010) are the other three.

Manning has played in two Super Bowls, both with the Indianapolis Colts, winning Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears and losing Super Bowl XLIV to the New Orleans Saints.

Manning often is criticized for his lack of big-game performances and appearances, especially when compared to Tom Brady, who has three Super Bowl titles and has been to the game five times. So, being the lone big fish in the pond must be an unusual and pleasant feeling for No. 18.

While the Broncos head in with the limited experience of just four players with experience in the big game, it’s at least more than Pete Carroll‘s team can boast. No Seahawks players have appeared in the Super Bowl, making Seattle the first team since the 1990 Buffalo Bills to enter a Super Bowl without any experience.
