Queen Latifah, BeyonceThe Super Bowl is an event worthy of a queen, and it will have one in the house on Sunday.

Queen Latifah will sing “America the Beautiful” as part of Super Bowl XLVIII pregame festivities at MetLife Stadium, the NFL announced Monday. Her performance will be part of FOX’s pregame show, which will be televised live before kickoff between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. The pregame show also will include the national anthem, which the NFL announced last week will be sung by New York opera star Renee Fleming.

Latifah, 43, has performed at the Super Bowl before, singing “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami. However, as a Newark, N.J., native, her appearance at the Jersey-based game this year is even more appropriate.

The multitalented entertainer currently hosts her own daytime talk show The Queen Latifah Show, is a Grammy Award-winning musician and has won a Golden Globe award as an actress. She also has been nominated for an Emmy and Academy Award.
