The announcement was made during FOX’s broadcast of the Seattle Seahawks-New Orleans Saints NFC divisional-round playoff game Saturday.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers already were scheduled to perform at a pre-Super Bowl show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Feb. 1. It is unknown at this time if the rock band will appear with Mars on stage.

Mars boasts a bevy of No. 1 hits, including “Locked Out of Heaven,” “When I Was Your Man” and “Grenade.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 albums, with their most recent one, “I’m With You,” being released in 2011.
