Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz held his annual Children’s Fund Celebrity Golf Classic in the Dominican Republic in December, and several current and former baseball players took part in the fun.

One attendee was trick-shot specialist Trevor Consavage, who showed Ortiz and former major league catcher Ivan Rodriguez how to chip a golf ball into the air so it can be swung at by a baseball bat.

When it was the Red Sox slugger’s turn, Consavage chipped the ball up in the air for Ortiz to swing at, but instead of traveling down the fairway, it exploded on contact. The prank drew a lot of laughter from everyone involved.

Check it out in the video below. Hat tip to the Golf Channel for the find.
