The Detroit Red Wings forced overtime in their game against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night on a goal that should not have counted.

A shot from the point by Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall was deflected out of play and hit the netting high above the end boards behind the Kings goal. The puck fell from the netting and landed on Kings goalie Jonathan Quick‘s back and into the net. The referees should have blown the play dead because the puck hit the netting, but they didn’t, and the goal stood because the play was not reviewable.

The Red Wings went on to win 3-2 in a shootout.
