The Boston Red Sox added some pitching depth Friday by signing left-handed reliever Jose Mijares to a minor league contract, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

Mijares, 29, made his major league debut in 2008 with the Minnesota Twins and has appeared in 324 big-league games during his six-year career.
Mijares spent the 2013 season with the San Francisco Giants, posting a 4.22 ERA with 54 strikeouts, 20 walks and a 1.78 WHIP in 49 innings. Mijares has a career ERA of 3.29, with 229 strikeouts, 110 walks and a 1.39 WHIP.
Red Sox pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., on Feb. 15.
