Larry isn’t walking through that door, Patriots fans.

Actually, he could wind up in New England somewhere down the road, but there has yet to be trade talks between the Patriots and Arizona Cardinals, according to one report.

CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran reported Tuesday that the Patriots “sent out feelers to gauge the feasibility” of acquiring wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald from the Cardinals. On Wednesday, Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe politely shot it down.

Howe reports, according to a source, that “the Patriots have never entered any real negotiations with the Cardinals for Fitzgerald — this year, last year, any year,” but adds that it’s possible the Pats have had internal discussions about the 30-year-old Pro Bowl receiver.

While Howe states that “there’s never been anything in the works between the Patriots and Cardinals,” Patriots fans still can dream of a world where Tom Brady throws touchdown passes to Fitzgerald, who has 87 TDs and more than 11,000 receiving yards in 10 NFL seasons.
