It took a while, but the Miami Dolphins have hired a new general manager.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have hired Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel Dennis Hickey as general manager.

Hickey reportedly accepted the job after New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio and Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson both turned down the job. Hickey succeeds Jeff Ireland, who left the team this offseason after serving as GM since 2008.

Hickey was with the Bucs for 18 years, but wasn’t one of the candidates interviewed for the team’s open GM position this offseason.

The Dolphins reportedly had four finalists for the GM job, with the fourth, in-house candidate and assistant general manager Brian Gaine, the only finalist not offered the job.
