Comeback Wins, Rob Gronkowski’s Injuries Among Patriots’ Season-Defining Moments (Photos)

Kenbrell Thompkins, Jabari GreerFOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ season began with a comeback win over the Buffalo Bills and ended after the team suffered another costly injury in its AFC Championship Game loss to the Denver Broncos.

Those two games sum up the Patriots’ season fairly well. The 2013 Patriots were marked by stunning comeback victories and one heartbreaking injury after another.

It was a season of highs and lows and ups and downs for the Patriots. “Mental toughness” was the phrase of the year. The Patriots needed plenty of that toughness from Day 1, as tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested June 26, 2013 — a month before training camp began.

Now that the season’s over, it’s time to look at five season-defining moments for this year’s team.
